U-PASS Fact Sheet
Here's your chance to familiarize yourself with the issue! Take a moment to skim the information below to sound more knowledgeable in your email.
While the future of the U-PASS is uncertain, we do know one thing: the U-PASS as we know it will have to change. Since 1991 the U-PASS has been serving the students of the University of Washington, but things are going to start changing fast. King County Metro fares could increase by as much as $1.25 over the next four years! This would drive up program costs and make everyday transportation unaffordable.
Over 75% of students at UW have a U-PASS. According to Transportation Services, students and other U-PASS members used U-PASS to take 11.5 million trips in 2008, which represents almost 10% of Metro’s total annual ridership. This is a huge number that gives students power to make a difference.
With the Political Action Network, we can leverage our collective strength and save the U-PASS. Please write to your councilmember today!
